7th GREIT Lisbon Summer Course: "TAX EVASION, TAX AVOIDANCE AND AGGRESSIVE TAX PLANNING"

IDEFF is organizing the 7th edition of the GREIT Lisbon Summer Course. This year’s Course will focus on “TAX EVASION, TAX AVOIDANCE AND AGGRESSIVE TAX PLANNING”, from 22-26 June, 2015.

This year’s course is once again structured to foster debate among both lecturers and participants from different countries, enabling all participants to enter into a detailed analysis of the current tax topics under discussion in the U.S. and European Union.

Topics selected are the following:

U.S. Perspective on MNC Tax Avoidance and BEPS; A EU Approach on Tax Evasion, Tax Avoidance and BEPS; The OECD & EU Agendas and Output : Follow Up; Avoidance and Aggressive Tax Planning under BEPS in light of EU Law: The case of Harmful Tax Competition, Hybrids and Domestic and Treaty Abuse Actions 5, 2 and 6; Tax Evasion and Tax Avoidance and Aggressive Tax Planning from the U.S. Perspective; Tax Avoidance and GAARs – EU & Domestic Law; Specific Reaction to Aggressive Tax Planning : Interplay between Anti-Hybrid and CFC Rules; Interest Deductions: Interest Barrier Rules & Residence in Tax Treaties and in EU Law; The PPT Rule, LOB Clauses, Saving Clause and Exit Taxes in Action 6 and in light of EU Law; Avoidance, Aggressive Tax Planning and the EU Directives; Tax Evasion, Tax Avoidance and Aggressive Tax Planning in VAT; Perspectives for EU primary and secondary law: mandatory automatic exchange of information on rulings; tackling unfair tax competition/state aid and ECJ's interpretation of the new GAARs & SAARs. 
The course will also comprise the analysis of case studies from case law dealing with the topics above mentioned.
