Armindo Saraiva Matias

He holds a PhD in Legal Sciences from the Universidade Autónoma, Lisbon, along with a master’s degree and under-graduation degree in law from Coimbra Law School. He is an Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon. He is the Professor and chair of Regent Property Law, Commercial Law, Corporate Law and Banking Law. He delivers lectures both in Portugal and abroad.  He serves as the President of the Scientific Committee and Director of the Law Department of the Universidade Autónoma, Lisbon. He has directed the legal services and litigation of major public institutions and also serves as the Consultant of a national confederation. He has coordinated working groups that have undertaken the preparation of legal high range, the economic and financial field, and, in particular, chaired a Working Group of the European Council. As a lawyer, he specializes in Financial Law and is affiliated to the Portuguese Bar Association. He is a Member of arbitral tribunals. And is a representative in Portugal of the European Association of Banking and Finance (AEDBF). He is the national correspondent for the Magazine EUREDIA has published numerous works of nature university, in books and specialized magazines, under the Economic Law, Banking Law and Real Rights studies, such as: Efeitos do registo predial português, Galileu. Revista de Economia e Direito, v.5n.1 (2000) p.43-65 (Land registration in Portugal); Para um conceito de direito económico, Faculdade de Direito de Lisboa, 1981 (the concept of economic law); Regime sancionatório em direito bancário Revista da Ordem dos Advogados, Lisboa, a.62n.2 (Abr.2002), p.605-619 (Sanctions on banking law). He is a member of the research group on Globalization, Economic Integration and Development: European and Lusophone Perspectives.
