Tânia Sarmento da Silva Reis Cardoso Simões

After she obtained her master’s degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon in 2003, Tânia Simões earned her Diplôme d’Etudes Supérieures Juridiques et Economiques de l’Union Européenne from Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne in 1999. In 2005, she earned her post-graduate diploma in EC Competition Law from the King’s College in London. She currently teaches Competition Law and Regulation, at IDEFF. She served as a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon from 1995 till 2012, in the areas of Economics, Competition Law, European Law, Public Finance and Tax Law. Since 2003, she has been associated with the Portuguese Competition Authority as a Legal officer and currently works in the Merger Department, having worked until 2009 in the Regulated Markets and State Aid Department. She has published several articles in these areas. She is a member of the research group on Market Failures in a Globalized Economy: Institutional Approaches.
